This last weekend, our ward had a Ward Camp Out up Hobble Creek Canyon in Springville. It had been planned all month, and I had switched work with some of the girls at work so I could go on this campout. As it got closer, we saw that it was supposed to rain. But, we still wanted to go because we haven't gone camping in a while, and I love camping.
Meli and Dash came with us and as we were driving there, it started raining. The raindrops got bigger and bigger. Well... at the grounds where our ward was, everyone was huddled underneath tarps because it was raining so much. It eventually slowed down to a light sprinkle and that's when we decided to hurry and put up our tent before it started raining again.
We were a little too slow. Our tent was still lying flat on the ground when it started POURING! Even harder than it had been before. We hurried and tried to put our rain tarp over the tent, but water still got in it. We were soaked! Scott and I were going as fast as we could trying to get the tent up. Well, Meli had a blast! She loves water so she was off and we actually couldn't find her for a while because she was exploring. Dash was absolutely MISERABLE! I wish I could've gotten a picture of him (but it was pouring) because he was huddled underneath a nearby tree, frowning at us. His little eyebrows were just drooping because he was so miserable. We couldn't stop laughing.
Well, I ended up staying with the ward underneath the tarps (soaked in my clothes, literally...it was like I jumped into a pool and got out) while Scott hurried home, with the dogs, to get towels, new sets of clothes, and dry the dogs off. When he did get back, we cleaned up the inside of the tent and everything went smoothly after that. Funny thing was, it didn't rain anymore after we cleaned everything up.
I still had lots of fun! I sure had a heck of a lot of laundry to do the next day. It was worth the memories though! Here are some pictures:
I am starting to look like I actually put a small basketball underneath my sweatshirt! But.. I didn't. :)
And that one picture doesn't look like there was a lot of water, but that was the tarp underneath our tent. We had already got our tent on the tarp before it started pouring. And we also got rid of some of the puddles before we took the picture.
